We are very proud to announce that we have made available a tool that allows you to launch manufacturing processes with part nesting in a cutting optimization situation. This is known as “nesting” in industry terms.
This is a very specific situation often encountered, for example, in sheet metal cutting, where the aim is to minimize the amount of scrap or waste by maximizing the placement of parts on a single sheet of metal.
These are not predefined bills of materials, which would be too cumbersome to manage. Here, the system allows several orders to be dynamically combined into a single manufacturing process. The system also provides an interface (API) to tools that calculate the perimeter or cutting length of each part so that quotes can be automatically generated for customers. To go further, it is possible to interface with part placement optimizers (API) depending on the business. This provides a fully automated and optimized process.
